GE recently asked me to create a DIY project while shopping for energy efficient light bulbs to replace my incandescent light bulbs.
We weren’t sure which room we needed an update on. Our bedroom where recently our overhead fan blade completely broke off (while spinning on high!!), smashed into a picture frame and almost killed me? Or the girl’s bathroom/guest bathroom? I was certain we needed a new fan and replacing the light bulbs would be a great addition.
After going shopping we found replacement brackets so we were able to fix the broken fan bracket and attach the blade to the fan again. It was a cheap and easy fix so of course the choice was easy – The girl’s bathroom.
The bathroom is situated directly in the middle of 3 rooms. We are constantly turning on the bathroom light in the middle of the night if Kendall wakes up. It’s so very bright though and in the dead of night turning on a bright light just kills your eyes and we have found that it almost wakes Kendall up completely. The lighting situation definitely had to be fixed and I knew just how to do it.
Our fix? A dimmer light switch. I headed to Walmart (check out My google + story) to shop for a dimmer switch but also great new Energy Efficiency light bulbs that would fit with the dimmer settings and could save us some money.
Gross rainy day but we were set on our goals.
Finding the right dimmer switch was a task I wasn’t ready for. I had no idea there were so many options but we finally found one, and in the perfect color that would blend in with the brown walls.
Installing the dimmer was my husband’s job. I was distracting the girls so I totally forgot to take pictures but after what seemed like forever (lol, j/k), my husband got the dimmer installed and ready to go.
To fix our money saving problem I bought new GE Bright From The Start bulbs.
They look great in the bathroom and can be fully dimmed which is great!! I’m so happy with the new light dimmer and GE light bulbs. I can’t wait to see the savings on our electric bill.
