You Kohl’s slogan, “The more you know, the more you Kohl’s?” Well, if you like saving money and still keeping up with the latest fashion trends, then you are going to love this series of posts. I am going to show you just how true that slogan is. My challenge each week for the next four weeks is to create an outfit based on four fall fashion trends – for less than $100. My Kohl’s shopping trip from week one went so well that I am even more excited about the challenge.
This fall is all about the new classics; focus on key pieces to stay effortlessly chic all season. Any fashionista will tell you, the fall wardrobe essentials are: the perfect black pant, a button up shirt, a pullover sweater and the motorcycle jacket, all found at unbeatable prices at Kohl’s and Kohls.com. Update these must-haves with fabric mixing, color blocking, plaids, and stripes.
When I walked into Kohl’s this week,, I really had no idea what direction I would go with my first look. But since my trend challenge included black pants, I knew that was number one on my agenda. I grabbed several pairs of black pants, button up shirts and pullover sweaters. I filled my dressing room with 30 pieces of clothing, which was a challenge in itself since I was shopping with my toddler
When I emerged, this is the look I created.
It was hard to narrow my look down to this. There were so many great pieces that wanted to come home with me. (In fact, there was a sweater I loved so much that I hope I can fit it into one of my future challenges.) In the end, this shirt from Apt 9 won out because of its versatility and fit within the trend challenge — fabric mixing with crepe and faux leather and color blocking. Plus cobalt blue is one of the season’s hot colors. (I am so trendy, right!)
I am so loving these pants. I tried on several great pairs, including a brocade pair that nearly made the cut. But the comfort level on these Lauren Conrad pants was unbeatable. They are ponte knit, so they are super stretchy and move with me. Yet because of the tight-woven ponte, they don’t emphasize tummy-area rolls. Yeay. Honestly, I could sleep in them they are so comfy.
Since a nice pair of black pants are so versatile, I have a feeling friends will see me pair these pants with many different tops this season. (Including that previously mentioned sweater I am eyeing at Kohl’s.) I hope the array of tops will keep them from noticing if I wear these pants 3-4 days in a row. 🙂
Last but not least, the jacket. Motorcycle chic meets suburban mom. I am seriously digging this quilted motorcycle jacket from Rock & Republic. I can throw this jacket on with a pair of jeans to be stylish during the day or over a LBD (little black dress – just in case you aren’t familiar with the slang) for date night. Plus it is the perfect weight for a Florida winter.
Alright here is the best part – you can score my versatile look for less than $100!!!
- Shirt $24.99
- Pants $30.80
- Jacket $60.00
- Less a 15% off coupon
Total = $98.42
I had a 15% off coupon for in-store shopping, but if you are shopping online you can use the coupon code CARAMEL to save 20% plus get free shipping.
