I did it!
I am so pleased that I was able to step up and make this challenge work for me. I really like the outfit I came up with. Plus I discovered a new line of jeans that fit like they were made for me. Seriously, I wanted to bring home like three pairs. Rock & Republic makes AWESOME jeans. And considering that I paid $30 for the jeans I picked, they are totally affordable too.
Let’s review this week’s True Blue challenge
Week #2: True Blue: Head-to-toe denim is no longer for the fashion fearless. This fall Kohl’s makes it possible for any woman to rock a double denim look with a little help from a chambray shirt, skinny and boyfriend silhouettes and the denim jacket! The best part? This look can be tailored to any style: whether classic, preppy, or bohemian, just mix washes to master the true blue trend.
So here’s my look, what do you think?
As I mentioned I found several pairs of Rock & Republic jeans that wanted to jump in my cart. But in the end, I picked the “Mommy Dearest” style (love the name) because I really liked the dark wash (especially when I paired it with the chambray shirt). Although I haven’t worn bootcut jeans in a long while, I usually prefer skinny or straight, I am a big fan of these. They fit perfectly and the bootcut at the bottom is so subtle it is just enough to balance out the jeans.
The denim shirt. Oh my, I tried on almost as man denim shirts as I did jeans. Dark washes, embellished collars, chambray, patterned, solids — denim shirts are huge right now and Kohl’s has an impressive selection. I liked them so much, I came home with two! The thing about the denim shirt is that it can be worn as a shirt or a light jacket, which is perfect for Florida.
I could not resist this Sanoma chambray shirt with tiny white dots. The pattern gives the shirt a more updated feel than the chambray shirts I remember mom wearing in the 80’s. Plus it is so soft, so soft.
Just like the challenge suggested, I mixed washes with a light shirt and dark jeans. While the shirt looks nice buttoned up, I prefer the jacket look. So I paired it with a plain white tee by Apt 9.
Everything was so reasonably priced that I had money to spare in my $100 budget, so I picked up a long Lauren Conrad necklace. It is the perfect finishing touch for this look, and it will go with everything.
Ready for my total cost?
- Chambray Shirt – $19.99
- Jeans – $35.30
- White Tee – $8.99
- Necklace – $18
I didn’t have any coupons with me, but I did earn $10 in Kohl’s cash to use later.
Next week I will be back with a new fashion challenge from Kohl’s – Monday I will share the trend challenge and Friday the results. For a totally different Kohl’s look, check out the results of last week’s new classics challenge.
