Disclosure: I partnered with Mom It Forward and Vtech on this post because I am THAT mom, the mom who always wants to know what her kids are doing. All opinions in this post are completely mine, unless noted other wise.
I’ve always been a “the baby monitor is a must” type mom. I think they are great for so many reasons even once your baby is no longer a baby. Kendall, my *sniff* daughter who will be 4 next week has a monitor in her room so I can keep an eye on her, make sure her and her sister are playing nicely together, or really just for my own sanity of knowing she is safe and sound asleep in her bed. And yep, even my 9-year-old has a monitor in her room. She has been staying up past her bedtime to draw or make rainbow looms so we had to quickly put a stop to that.
We’ve tried many monitors but eventually fell in love with one by Vtech. I loved that you could speak into it, and that I could zoom in. The only sad this is that the battery life was always horrible and only lasted about an hour off the charger. It has lasted us the past 4 years though and that’s now the one we have in Makenna’s room.
I have the new Vtech Safe and Sound Video Baby Monitor that is similar to the old version we have but oh how I love it even more (and I didn’t think that was possible with a baby monitor)! Like I said, the old monitor would just zoom in and once you were zoomed in you could move the screen left/right, up/down but only to a certain degree. Now the camera pans tilts, and zooms!! 270 degrees of panning side-to-side and tilts as much as 124 degrees up and down, all with 2x the zoom. Seriously, my kids cannot hide in a single spot in Kendall’s room.
We have the Vtech Safe and Sound Video Baby Monitor in Kendall’s room since Ben sleeps in the room with us. Once we move him to a room of his own we’ll definitely get a second camera since we can have up to 4 linked up to one parent unit.
Life is busy, and we need to stop, look, and listen to our children so we don’t miss out on the simple moments that’s why I love having cameras in both my daughter’s rooms even though they aren’t babies. Just to hear them talk and play with each other. The cute secrets they share when they think mommy isn’t listening, and the laughter they share together I sorta feel like I am a part of it even when I’m in the next room with their baby brother.
Some features I love:
- Night Vision: Instead of having to leave a light on or peek into the room the black and white night vision of the Vtech Safe and Sound Video Baby Monitor is perfect. We can see everything in the room even though it’s pitch black in there.
- Two-Way Communication: YES!!! I absolutely cannot live without this feature. If Kendall wakes up from a bad dream I can ask her what is wrong or sooth her back to sleep without leaving my bed. If the girls are fighting I can instantly put a stop to it and I didn’t even have to stop cooking dinner. It is truly a lifesaver in my eyes.
- Pan and tilt camera: A feature I long wished for is finally her. The girls have no where to hide – plain and simple. haha.
- Battery Life: Much to my joy VTech has improved the battery on the Safe and Sound monitor and it lasts us about 19-21 hours off the charger. Definitely a huge upgrade than the previous version.
A product we have always been familiar with has stolen my heart all over again. I will always rave about VTech baby monitors and to me they are a must for all parents. Whether you are having your first or your 6th I think everyone should have a monitor and with the improvements VTech has made to their Safe and Sound Video Baby Monitor it needs to be on every baby registry page.
