I knew it would happen… back to school time means, cold and flu season. All those crazy germs being introduced again. It’s something that is hard to prevent so sometimes you just have to hold your breath until the day comes. Your kids come home complaining of a sore throat or you hear them randomly sneezing then eventually sneezing constantly. When we buy school supplies I also make sure to grab other essentials for all the colds that would be passing through the house.
So far we’ve had one dose of the sickies pass by. I was running low on my DIY bath salts so I whipped up a batch and of course, wanted to share it with you guys too and show you what I include in my “Sick Day Survival Kit”. Oh, and I have an awesome Sam’s Club giveaway (#SoothingSoreNoses) below so keep reading to find out how you can win!
I get my first essential at Sam’s Club. Great prices and practically everything you need in one stop. I absolutely loathe grocery shopping with 3 kids in tow so Sam’s Club = a win for me. Yeah, I might not need 100 bars of soap… right now but when you’re running to the store every month for it, I won’t be!
Tissue is always on the school supply list and Sam’s Club has just what I need for the teacher and home. New and only at Sam’s Club is Puffs Plus Lotion 10 pack! Perfect tissue for sore/runny noses needing some extra softness during Cold/Flu and Allergy season. There are 124 tissues in every box so all the little kiddos in the classroom will be set when they need it. And my house? We’re covered too!
Puffs Plus Lotion is America’s #1 lotion tissue and is dermatologist tested to be gentle on sensitive skin! I don’t know about you but my kids complain so much during a cold because their noses always hurt or turn red. No complaints when they have to blow their nose with Puffs!
Sniffles & Sneezes from a cold or allergy can strike whenever so keep a box of Puffs Plus Lotion in your living room, car, office, etc. so you’re ready when it hits you.
DIY Cold & Flu Bath Salts
The recipe is super simple and just takes a couple of ingredients that you most likely already have on hand.
- 1 cup Epsom salt.
- 1/2 cup baking soda.
- 4 drops eucalyptus essential oil.
- 5 drops vanilla extract.
- Purple (blue and red) food coloring, if desired. Mix until you achieve the color you want.
- Combine and mix all of the ingredients well and store in a glass container.
- Use 1/4 to 1/2 cup per bath when you have a cold or flu.
I use eucalyptus because its beneficial properties include anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, decongestant, deodorant, antiseptic, antibacterial, stimulating, and more! Vanilla has anaesthetic properties for pain and well… it just smells amazing!
With Puffs Plus Lotion at Sam’s Club and my cold & flu bath salts, you’re all set and one step closer to better days.
