Disclosure: Hilton Orlando invited my family and I to stay at the resort in exchange for our honest review of their hotel. All opinions below are 100% mine unless noted otherwise.
When it comes to staying at a resort during summer break, I’m looking for the best bang for my buck. Our typical stay-cations always lead us back to the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek in the summer. Why? Because during their annual SummerBlast! Weekends, you and your family will experience so many activities without even having to leave the resort with rooms starting around $145/night. They offer family-friendly amenities like a zero-entry pool, a lazy river, a waterslide, free kids meals, a Disney Store, ice cream socials, kids activities and more. The best part, it’s nestled inside the gates of Disney property (but it’s not a Disney resort), so you get all the perks like free park shuttle service, and you might even see the nightly fireworks from your room!
To sum it up: It’s a resort for all ages!
Top 5 Summer Experiences at Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek
1. Mermaid Academy
Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek hosts their annual SummerBlast! Weekends in the summer time. The weekend events run from May 26th through September 3rd. One of the events that your kids will absolutely love is the Mermaid Academy experience! A one-of-a-kind experience for girls and boys of all ages. Each guest can live the dream of becoming a mermaid (or shark) in this innovative and interactive class. There are usually 2 class times on both Wednesdays and Saturdays right at the Hilton pool. My oldest daughter had an absolute blast during the class. The two instructors were so helpful and fun through the entire experience. The cost for being a shark is $20 (for underwater pictures add $10), and for a mermaid, it’s $30 (plus $10 for photos). If you’d like other things added on, plan on the cost going up. The one hour-long class includes teaching the kids valuable pool safety with the tails and fins on and the proper way to swim. Then the fun begins! Kids will love learning how to dive through hoops, hunt for lost pirate treasure, and then the end the class with fun free time!
2. SummerBlast! Pool Party
Don’t expect a regular plain Jane pool at the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek. Expect to have your mind blown when you step outside to find there are THREE pools connected to a long lazy river complete with a water park worthy twisty slide, which is all in the center of a 3-acre pool deck! Plan your Saturday to be one of the days you lounge by the pool and not at the theme parks. Come early to find the perfect spot because even though it looks like there are plenty of chairs and umbrellas, they go fast. Almost every day during the SummerBlast! Weekends you can join DJ Splash as he hosts a full schedule of activities and rockin’ music all on the pool deck. You may find mini-football games, water basketball, float races, Marco Polo, candy bingo, beach ball dodge ball, H20 Pac-Man, line dance fun, hula hoop games, pool relay games, float races, etc. You can even win some prizes so don’t be shy.
(Activities vary daily, pool open from 7 am to 11 pm, weather permitting.)
3. Dive-in Movie Night
You read that right – Dive-in. End the night with a family movie on our big screen, located poolside. Grab a lounge chair or relax while floating inside the pool. Movies take place Saturday night at 9:00 pm, weather permitting. During our stay, they had Beauty ad the Beast showing that we could see from our room.
4. Special Events
Come for the pool, stay for the fun! Weekends at Hilton Orlando BonnetCreek are all the rage. During our stay, it was “Cupcake Lovers Weekend” which meant cupcake contests, cupcake decorating, and endless FREE mini cupcakes! During SummerBlast! Weekends you can also catch events during Memorial Day, Independence Day and more! The kids loved having endless cupcakes, but I may have had more than I should have, as well.
5. Waldorf Astoria Orlando Enchanted Evenings
In addition to the SummerBlast! activities at Bonnet Creek Resort, guests are invited to attend “Enchanted Evening” activities at Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek Resort’s sister property the Waldorf Astoria. Take a short walk or hop on the resort shuttle to enjoy more summer activities such as RC Car Races, Fireside S’mores, Royal Tea, and more!
Long after the summer fun is over, you will still enjoy everything the property has to offer like free kids meals at Harvey’s Bistro, an on-site kids club, luxurious rooms, a breath-taking view, and let’s not forget about the free Disney bus transportation.
