Earlier this week Disney finally dropped the Opening Date for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge (August 29, 2019) at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Fans everywhere freaked out and rejoiced in the news since we had first been told that the new 14-acre land wouldn’t open until late fall. But now Disney gave us something else to celebrate. CEO Bob Iger has announced a new service from Disney!
In an already bustling streaming marketing, Disney is preparing to roll out its own digital streaming service. We heard about this a couple of years ago but at the time it was called Disney Play and then the news sorta died down. Well, now it’s officially called Disney+ and we will be getting it this year!.
Features & What Makes It Special
Every.Single.Disney.Movie – Yep! Historically, Disney would release films to home video, DVD, and BluRay for a limited time before returning them to “the vault,” but with Disney+ the entire collection will be at your fingertips. I’m personally excited about A Goofy Movie, Angel’s in the Outfield, and A Bug’s Life.
No R Rated movies! – Don’t worry about leaving your kids alone with Disney+ playing in the background. There will be absolutely zero R Rated movies on the service. I for one love this and applaud Disney for sticking to being “family friendly.”
MCU will continue on Disney+ – Disney+ is expected to give a few of our favorite characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe renewed life by way of limited series devoted to them, starting with Loki! There are also talks of Winter Soldier and Falcon each getting their own series. I know what will be playing in our home 24/7.
More Star Wars – In addition to a new prequel to Rogue One in the making, Disney has announced that the Clone Wars will be getting a seventh season (and possibly more) on the Disney+ service.
And more! – We all want more and that’s exactly what Disney will be giving us. More Disney+ exclusive content, shows, and series.
Disney+ Launch Date and Price
An exact launch date for Disney+ has not been released yet. They’ve said “late fourth quarter but I’m really hoping they push the date up. A price for the service has not been released either. I expect in the coming weeks both of these things will be announced since so many people are wanting to know. I’m willing to bet that it is in or around the $10/month range. How much would you pay for the Disney+ service?
