BlogHer11 in itself deserves it’s own recap post but this is not about BlogHer. This post is about how a large group of bloggers that went from scared and nervous to happy and crying in about 3 minutes.
Theresa from MomSmack (formally “Rock on Mommies”) and Mary from the Mama Mary Show had this crazy idea of putting together a Flash Mob at BlogHer weeks ago. We came from all walks of life from all over the US so getting this dance together and in sync was a bit of a challenge but that didn’t stop Theresa and Mary from making one of their dreams come true. It was kept a secret from everyone except 2-3 main BlogHer people. #OperationGlory was in full effect and we stayed connected through a private Facebook group!
Theresa made countless videos and in the group we would watch the USteam and YouTube videos over and over again to get the moves down. We were then split into groups and we all knew what part we needed to jump in at.
BlogHer was fast approaching and I was all but ready for my part. Still so nervous though because performing in front of people is the opposite of my personality.
BLOGHER WAS HERE.
It was Friday at noon. The Sails Pavilion in the San Diego Convention Center started to fill up for lunch and we knew it was almost time for us to surprise everyone. 12:15 pm exactly “Edge Of Glory” by Lady Gaga started playing over the sound system and Theresa went into the middle of the lunch room all by herself and started to dance (brave woman!!). We all then joined in at our parts and in the end created one big mob of over 100 women in the center of the room.
It was amazing, it was inspiring, and like I said we all cried afterward. The emotion of being in something so cool was just way too overwhelming. We were able to plan, and dance together after planning for weeks. Being in the now famous BlogHer11 flash mob was everything I thought it was going to be and more.
