What does Valentine’s Day mean in your house? For my family, it means an extra special night that is blocked out for my husband and I. My mother-in-law knows she’s watching the kids so he and I can go out to dinner alone! We don’t get many nights out so Valentine’s Day is definitely one we have to have every year. For the kids, they used to think it was a day for only mommy’s and daddy’s. They’d get their little treats in the morning but they never really thought much more about it. Recently I really thought about making Valentine’s Day about them as well and so we’ve introduced the Valentine’s Day basket into the home. We are all familiar with Easter Baskets, right? This is a similar idea but made extra special for Valentine’s Day. Instead of hunting for eggs I created a free Valentine’s Day printable to hide inside the basket for the kids to find.
What you’ll need to create a Valentine’s Day basket is simple.
- Print out your free Valentine’s Day printable
- small toys, or plush animals!
- sweet treats!
I always hit up Spot’s Playground (Dollar section) at Target for cute games and toys that the kids can play with. They are small enough to throw into a basket like this and don’t cost a lot so everyone wins. While at Target I grabbed Hershey’s Kisses Conversation Candies (available exclusively at Target) and Reese’s Conversation Cups. There’s also Reese’s Peanut Butter hearts, Reese’s Peanut Butter 5 oz Heart, and Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bar. Can you tell we love our Hershey’s candies, but who doesn’t?
