Car seat safety. One of the most important things to me when my children are in any vehicle. I can’t protect them from everything but when it comes to being in a car, I can only do my best to keep them as safe as I possibly can. My 11-year-old? In a high back booster. My 5-year-old? In a 5-point-harness. My 2-year-old? Still rear-facing. My kids are strapped in how they should so what can I do to keep them safe beside following the rules of the road is what I wondered.
Garmin, the makers of the GPS navigation devices we all know and use, came up with an ingenious new product that I could not help but fall in love with instantly. It is called the Garmin babyCam. The Garmin babyCam (note: cannot be added to alternate brand GPS systems) is a camera that is installed on the headrest of your vehicle seat and the video feed comes up right on your Garmin device! It installs in seconds to any head rest for either your forward-facing or rear-facing child.
Being able to glance at the Garmin babyCAM is so much safer than the typical baby mirror for many reasons. I have to take my eyes off the road and even sit up when looking in my rear-view mirror to see the baby mirror. Also, the mirror always moved no matter how tight we tried to make it. Without my older daughter in the backto fix the position, I would often lose sight of my son.
We have experienced so many stressful moments, time lost, and sometimes even unsafe moments if I had to pull over on the side of the highway just to fix his mirror. The Garmin babyCam has been so wonderful to have these past few weeks. And even at night, we can see B clearly because of the low-light/night vision feature.
Another special feature is that your Garmin will alert you if the vehicle has been turned off but the baby is still in the seat!
Garmin understands parents #1 concern and has answered with an in-vehicle video baby camera that works with you to help keep your drive as stressless as possible.
