The boys and I have just returned home from our two-week long family vacation. Part of our time was spent in Tacoma, Washington where we stayed at the luxurious Hotel Murano. You may have caught my original post here and now that we’ve returned I’m so excited to share our experience at Hotel Murano.
We were placed on the 19th floor in a corner King Bed Superior Suite overlooking the Port of Tacoma and the downtown museum district. My husband’s only hope was that he was able to see Mount Rainier and when we opened our window shades and looked outside we could see the mountain in all its glory. We also caught both ends of a rainbow after a rain shower which was pretty neat.
Our suite included a king-sized bed, Adam and Viktoria pillows and high thread-count duvets. The King Bed Superior Suite boasts a second room and bathroom to let you spread out a little. The separate sitting area is uniquely styled with a high-end sofa sleeper and large, 32” LCD TV.
It also includes the following amenities:
- • Wireless high-speed Internet (fee required)
- • 24-hour fitness room
- • 24-hour business center
- • 24-hour room service
- • LCD flat-panel TV’s
- • Our famous “Help Me” button on every guest room phone
- • Parking – Valet with in-and-out privileges (daily fee)
- • iPod stations in every guest room
- • iPod menus
- • Spiritual menu
- • Pillow menu
- • In-room Torrefazione Coffee and Steven Smith Teas
- • Wonderfully comfortable beds
- • Luxurious linens
- • Pet-friendly rooms (fee required)
- • In-room safe.
The suite was incredibly spacious offering separate rooms and a guest bathroom making it perfect for the 4 of us to spread out and have plenty of room. The guest bath separates the two rooms offering a great sound barrier so neither room disturbs the other.
Hotel Murano prides themself on having luxurious beds to make you feel right at home. I am so happy to report that I slept like a baby the entire time we stayed at Hotel Murano, as did my Husband and boys. The beds are the most comfortable hotel beds I’ve ever slept in and we travel quite a bit! Even the high-end sofa bed was comfortable for my little guy.
Not only does the suite include a King sized bed, but it also offers a large desk with lamp and plenty of outlets for plugging in electronic devices. It also includes a large mirrored wardrobe closet for housing your hanged clothing, shoes and four small drawers at the bottom for folded clothing.
The bathroom is spacious as well, and dons a bathtub with adjustable shower head. This is the first time I’ve encountered a hotel offering a shower head attached to a rod and actually moves up and down so that the guest can adjust the height to their needs. This is just one of the many things that helps Hotel Murano stand out for their high quality.
My one and only complaint of the entire hotel would be the king bathroom sink. As you can see in the picture above, it’s not very deep and often allowed water to spill over the edge of the sink and splash our clothing when washing our hands, etc. The guest bathroom offered a standard depth sink and therefore we did not encounter the issue in that bath.
I appreciated that they offered two LCD televisions, one in the bedroom and one in the living room. Our second TV was not operating when we arrived however by early the following morning the hotel staff had it fixed without issue.
The living room area included a large circular table perfect for dining or holding a small meeting. It also has a small microwave and mini fridge tucked away in the entertainment system cabinets. Hotel Murano has really thought of everything to make your stay the most enjoyable!
Everything about the suite was beautiful from the hand-blown bedside lamps to the modern furniture pieces, marble tiled bathrooms and incredible view. I am very impressed with the suite.
While I had high hopes of enjoying a relaxing massage or facial at Savi Day Spa, we just had too much to fit into our three-day adventure in Tacoma. However we did frequent Hotel Murano’s 4th floor restaurant, Bite. Upon our arrival we stopped into Bite for a “linner” aka lunch/dinner. They have an extensive menu that appealed to not only my husband and I, but our children as well. While most restaurants in the museum district closed between lunch and dinner, Bite remains open for their guests. We also enjoyed a scrumptious breakfast at Bite before our departure. If you have a bit of a sweet tooth and want a suggestion, the Belgian waffle with strawberries and whip cream is amazing!
Last but not least, this hotel review would not be complete without talking about the beautiful artwork displayed throughout the hotel. You literally embark on a unique tour through their glass art treasures for free!
As you begin your journey in Hotel Murano’s lobby you will experience the beauty and luster of glass which is integrated into everything from the front desk to the door handles. And don’t forget to look up! Take in the breathtaking Venetian chandelier of blown glass and the glorious Viking boats that depict the myths of the Norse Gods.
As you continue your experience, you will find that each of their 21 guest floors features a single artist and their original artwork set in a spectacular, uniquely designed “art wall”. Many of the pieces were especially created for the hotel.
Some of my favorite artists throughout the floors were Peter Bremers, Susan Taylor Glasglow, Richard Whiteley and Miriam Di Fiore.
As if I haven’t given you enough reason already…Hotel Murano offers outstanding guest service from the front desk, to the restaurant staff to housekeeping. All of the staff we encountered had a smile on their face and were eager to help in any way they could. They do an excellent job of maintaining the hotel and providing a superbly clean property.
Another favorite of ours was the pouch of blue jelly beans the housekeeping staff left on our bed after cleaning our room. It’s those small touches that really add up and set Hotel Murano apart.
