Disney and Universal are fun of course but sometimes something on the more affordable side is great. We spent the night at our local college – University Central Florida for their annual Light Up UCFevent. We’ve never been so this was whole new outing for our family. Parking is free and so are of the events. Ice skating is just $10 for unlimited fun!
Light Up UCF is an outdoor ice skating / light show / film festival with all your favorite rides and attractions that happens on Knights Plaza every holiday season from Nov. 11-Jan 1st.
Since we were already at the skate pavilion myself and Makenna went ice skating for a bit (it was $10/person) while daddy and Kendall walked around. The ice rink is open for public skating, as well as group bookings, birthday parties and private parties. Rink times are Monday-Thursday 5-10 p.m.; Friday 5-midnight; Saturday, 11 a.m. – midnight; Sunday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m.
The campus also hosts free movies on select nights throughout the event. Classic holiday films are shown on a two-story outdoor screen. We didn’t think about it but definitely a blanket or chairs will be needed if you plan on watching the movie(s). The movies begin at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
It was a great night and for just $25 spent the entire night I think we will have to return each year that Light Up UCF is held!
Disclosure: I forgot my camera at home though and my phone pictures didn’t turn out well. Pictures used in this post have been sourced.
