A couple weeks ago I briefly told you about the new Excedrin My Migraine Triggers App that you can use on your Apple device. The makers of Excedrin® Migraine developed the new app, My Migraine Triggers, with a leading neurologist that is available for free on iTunes. With this app, migraine sufferers can track their migraine triggers and gather the data put into reports and charts that can be easily shared with physicians.
On November 14th I was in New York for a media event with commercial media and other bloggers along with singer, actress and Broadway star Jordin Sparks, and well-known Lenox Hill Hospital internist Keri Peterson, MD – both migraine sufferers – to launch “Managing Migraines: Know Your Triggers.”
And the more you use it, the more it helps. Since migraines can set-in up to 48 hours after being exposed to a trigger, it is important to record potential triggers whether or not a migraine has started.
Don’t wait until your next migraine, download the My Migraine Triggers app and start tracking your migraines today.
“I encourage all my patients who suffer from migraines to download the My Migraine Triggers™ app,” says Lenox Hill Hospital internist and migraine sufferer Keri Peterson, MD. “I was shocked to learn that less than half (45%) of female migraine sufferers surveyed regularly share migraine trigger information with their physician. The new My Migraine Triggers™ app has a great feature which enables my patients to send me data about their migraines before they even walk into my office, allowing me to create a better treatment plan.”
“As they say in my business … the show must go on. As someone who suffers from migraines, it is important for me to understand my migraine triggers so I can stop my migraines before they stop me,” says Sparks. “That’s why I’m thrilled to be teaming up with the makers of Excedrin® Migraine to launch this education campaign and help migraine sufferers become better informed about their triggers and symptoms.”
Jordin was so wonderful at the event. After talking to us about her experiences with migraines and how her mom’s migraines affected her family she sang a song for us.

My Personal Thoughts
After using the app daily for about a month now I am slowly getting a grasp on my triggers. Of course stress is a big one but my main trigger seems to be skipping meals. The moment I skip a meal or not eat enough I start to get a migraine and it builds from there. I try to not skip meals but sometimes my day just gets too hectic. Even if I eat later the migraine stays with me and comes on with nausea, light and sound sensitivity. You try dealing with that with 2 kids running around you, laughing, playing, screaming. Yeah, not fun 🙁
The My Triggers App has helped me at least see what my main triggers are so now I can work on (not) doing those things that cause my migraines. If it weren’t for this app I would have never really known what was causing my migraines. Even though I believe I found the source I still track my migraines daily just in case something else changes in my day-to-day life or if I’m traveling and something happens that I’m not use to (being around certain plants or air pressure changes, ect).
