You can’t exactly feel the chilly fall vibe here in Florida but Halloween is upon us… at least at Walt Disney World. Pumpkins are aplenty as are all the “not-so-scary” characters and fun within the Magic Kingdom from now until October 31, 2018, for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. With only 5 hours to explore trick-or-treating, meet rare characters, and catch spell-bounding entertainment it’s essential that you first have a game plan.
Have you been thinking about taking your family to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Walt Disney World? Making plans can be a bit overwhelming or even deciding if it’s worth the price for “5 hours” in the park. I’m giving you all the need to know details to help make your decision easier.

Guide to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party 2018
First thing first, how are you going to get to the park? Disney has many options to get you and your bunch to your destination while on WDW property but my favorite by far has got to the option of the Minnie Van personal ride service. We started off our Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party night with a Minnie Van ride directly from Art of Animation.
Minnie Van service is available to those who are traveling anywhere on Disney property. For a flat fee is $15 + $2.75/mile you will be picked up in a comfortable 2017/2018 Chevy Traverse. This 7 passenger SUV has room for 6 guests and includes the use of up to two child safety seats. Minnie Van drivers go through extensive training to provide the highest quality of service when it comes to child safety and they know all the laws in that regard.

In partnership with Lyft, this Disney-owned & Disney-operated vehicle you can be ordered directly from the app and within 10 minutes your ride will meet you as close as possible to the front door of your location. Simply open the app from anywhere within Walt Disney World Resort to access Minnie Van service, request a ride and pay for it through the app. Real talk, my favorite thing above being comfortable, safe, and reliable is that I’m not cramped next to strangers after a long (and extremely hot) day if you get my drift. The Disney Cast Members are always so friendly and can answer all your Disney questions.

Get There Early

A big insider tip I can give you is that with your MNSSHP ticket you can actually arrive to the Magic Kingdom park as early as 4 pm! You’ll receive a wristband upon entering the park that lets cast members know you are there for the party. At 6 pm those guests without a wristband must start leaving the park. At 7 pm MNSSHP and the real fun officially starts.

Trick-or-Treating

This may just by my family but we don’t go trick-or-treating in neighborhoods anymore because our kids get so many treats during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. When you first arrive in the park you’ll be directed to the right. This is where you’ll receive your treat bag and your first treat of the night. And yes, parents can even have a bag!
Starting at 7 pm, look for candy corn colored inflatable stands. These indicate where you can find more treats. Those with allergies can also participate by telling cast members that you have an allergy. They will give you a token which can then be exchanged for your treat/prize of choice later on.
Exclusive Ride Experiences and Shows

The Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular show is back and again with the Sanderson Sisters! Arrive between 30-40 minutes ahead of time to get a great seat at the front of the castle. As soon as the show starts everyone will stand up and you get an even closer look. Let’s be honest, this show is mostly for adults since we know who these iconic sisters are. Your kid’s favorite villains join them on stage for a fun and “not so scary” show. The music, the lighting, the effects, and dancing are all so great. It’s awesome to see the villains get the spotlight they’ve been demanding.

If you’ve ridden Space Mountain you may tell others “It’s a very dark ride.” But my friends, you’ve been lying. Re-imagined for MNSSHP, has never been darker than now. It’s completely dark from dark to finish and yes, it makes the experience scarier.

Mad Hatter Tea Cups has a whole new re-imagined look as well. New lights and sounds take you on a spooky ride while you twirl as fast as you can. My pro tip is to be in the line queue at 7 pm because this line can get long. Even longer than Mine Train most of the time if you can believe that.

Fun For Little Ones

Boogie on over to Storybook Circus for the Disney Junior Jam. Little ones can join Vampirina and other familiar friends for some spooky fun that the whole family will love. A live DJ plays the hottest (child safe) tunes to dance and swing to. There are also other fun activities to do while here.

You can find out more info here.

Disclosure: I’m a Disney Partner and received this complimentary trip for #DisneyKids. As always, all opinions are my own.
