Living in Florida has it’s good and bad. Like today, It’s 96° out, GREAT for taking a dip in the pool but it’s seriously hot with 87% humidity added on to that so you can’t really stand being outside for more than 5 minutes. A huge negative about Florida is the concern of keeping our pets bug free. Keeping fleas, ticks, biting lice, mosquitos, and mites off of them is especially hard during the hot summer months.
Pets can get pretty pricey though so saving money is also important to me. Skimping on product effectiveness… not what I like to see when it comes to saving a few dollars. Since we’ve adopted Saydie, 5 years ago, we have had her on Frontline to protect her from everything possible. It is a great product and we’ve never seen any issues with it but $50 every few months gets a little crazy. Now we have two dogs and all I see is dollar signs so when VetIQ asked me to test out VetGuard Plus I gladly accepted.
I haven’t applied the medication yet since both dogs already had their April dosage from Frontline so I’ll be writing about how VetGuard Plus works on my dogs in another post.
VetGuard Plus is a vet-grade quality (and vet recommended) flea and tick treatment for dogs. Quality products at a significantly lower price than other flea & tick medications (like Frontline, for example.) I love that VetGuard Plus provides cost-effective flea, tick and mosquito control for my doggies.
- Kills and repels fleas and ticks for up to one month
- Breaks the flea life cycle
- Kills Flea Eggs and Larvae for up to 4 months – prevents biting adults from developing
- Kills Lice and Mites** for up to 4 weeks
- For use on dogs and puppies over twelve weeks of age
There are four different weight stages of the product so you know your pet is getting the correct dosage. Small, Medium, Large, and Extra Large. The boxes are color coated and clearly marked for your convenience.
You can purchase VetGuard Plus at local stores like Walmart, Kroger, Albertson’s, Sam’s Club, and many more local stores and even Amazon. You can find a 3 month supply for just $24.99! And just a note: if you have a cat you can save on your furry friend’s medication as well with VetGuard for Cats. But please, do not use the dog medicine on cats, it can be fatal!
I can’t wait to come back over the next couple months to share how VetGuard Plus has worked for us and just maybe, have something in store for you!
Disclosure: I was asked to be a VetGuard Plus Ambassador. I received a promotional item as well as compensation as a thank-you for participating. All opinions are my very own. **While the EPA has approved the claim that VetGuard Plus kills and repels mites, due to the nature of a mite infestation, you should consult your veterinarian for suggestions for a complete program to eliminate them.
I will try this on my dogs. I have 2 dogs and I am always looking for something that works as well as Frontline without being as expensive. Thank you for sharing this.
Can you get this brand for cats? I have a dog and 2 cats, we normally use advantage but I feel like this is more cost effective!
i have 3 dogs so i need this 🙂
I’m not familiar with this brand, but have been hearing about it lately, so I’ll have to check it out for our dog.
As you know since you’ve lived here, we don’t have this problem in Las Vegas. That doesn’t stop me from asking the vet to double check Harvey for any pests during all of his exams and drop ins.
My cats stay inside, so no need right now.
I’m going to tell my mom about this for her pet
I don’t have pets, but it’s as important to protect them as it is to protect ourselves!
I want to check this out.
How nice that they have different ones for different breeds.
We have a very large breed so its nice they have something for him!
it’s so important to keep your pets protected. My mom’s dog got lyme’s disease from not being protected.
I’m going to have to check this out for my doggy!
I need to look into getting this for our dog.
I need to try this for my dog!
It’s nice that they have size variations.
