With the excitement of Toy Story Land opening at Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World still at an all-time high, I waited until just the right time to head down there with my family. Surprisingly, it’s only been a week since opening but the ride times have dropped drastically from the opening weekend nightmare of a 6-hour wait for Slinky Dog. Today the wait times were only 60 minutes for Slinky and 30 for Aliens. Definitely doable for a regular day at Disney so we grabbed our stuff and made the 20-minute drive to Hollywood Studios.
Although it may look small, the 11-acre Toy Story Land takes up a huge chunk of space behind Pixar Place, the old home of Toy Story Mania. Speaking of, Toy Story Mania has a new queue entrance so if you’re wanting to ride that, come on over to Toy Story Land. The high level of detail created by the Walt Disney Imagineering is fantastic and transportive but maybe there are too many details for you to catch them all. I’m spilling five details about Toy Story Land you must read before your next visit.
Toy Story Land Secrets
Wanna feel like an Annual Passholder? Here’s some secrets you will love knowing!
1. A WELCOMING “HOWDY”

Woody stands at nearly 20 feet tall to welcome you into Toy Story Land. His hat? Well, that measures 7’ feet, brim to brim! As you’ll see, the marquee, made by Andy, is constructed using wooden blocks and a 4-foot-tall yo-yo.
2. Rex’s PRICE TAG

Right before you board Slinky Dog you can catch Rex’s original toy packaging. There’s an Al’s Toy Barn price tag on it that shows Rex cost $19.95. Look closer in the top corners and you’ll see 11 and 22. That’s is November 22, 1995, when the film was originally released!
3. “SLINKY DOG DASH” QUEUE
Slinky Dog Dash is a family coaster themed to a Mega Coaster Play Kit Andy purchased at Al’s Toy Barn. Pay close attention as you enter the line queue to see fun details such as the back of the stand-by line sign is actually Buster’s (Andy’s dog) dog tag. The FastPass sign is a watch without the wrist strap.
4. HIDDEN MICKEY

There is only ONE single Hidden Mickey in the entire land. Don’t let anyone convince you otherwise. You can find it in the Slinky Dog Dash queue. But where? Perhaps my photo above *hint hint*.
5. INSTAGRAM WALLS

The themed restroom that is put together using Cooties board came and building blocks has quickly become a new “Instagram Wall” like the Purple Wall at Magic Kingdom or Bubblegum Wall at Epcot. The #BlockWall is located directly between the men’s and women’s restroom entrances. It is the newest craze along with the #PopsicleStickWall which is found at the exit of Toy Story Mania.

And finally, this is not a secret but more so a tip. You are shrunken down to the size of a toy in Andy’s backyard but with that means very limited shade. Disney has tried to accommodate by putting oscillating fans in the ride queues and also, having large umbrellas along the fence lines but it’s still HOT and you definitely feel it. My tip is to purchase a compact travel umbrella, handheld misting fan or a deluxe misting fan, cooling towel, sunscreen, and sun hat before your trip. This way you save money and you’re already prepared for the heat. The items are linked to Amazon for easy and quick shopping.
