Every year Disney announces the movies they will be releasing for the following year. With Titles changes and dates being moved it can be hard to keep track. Now that we’re in 2020 we can officially say what will be be released this year. So get our your calendar and jot these Disney movies down so you don’t miss anything.
Walt Disney Studios 2020 Movie Slate
From Disney Pixar: Onward. In Theaters March 6, 2020

MOVIE PLOT: Set in a suburban fantasy world and populated by mystical creatures, Disney Pixar’s Onward introduces two teenage elf brothers (voiced by Chris Pratt and Tom Holland) who embark on an extraordinary quest to discover if there is still magic left in the world. Also featuring the voices of Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Octavia Spencer, and Aly Wong.
From Walt Disney Studios: Mulan. In Theaters March 27, 2020

MOVIE PLOT: Acclaimed filmmaker Niki Caro brings the epic tale of China’s legendary warrior to life in Disney’s Mulan. Mulan is an adaptation of Disney’s 1998 animated movie of the same name, and stars Liu Yifei as the title character. Very much like the animated version, the story centers around the eldest daughter of an honored warrior who steps in to take the place of her ailing father. In order to do so, she disguises herself as a man to battle northern invaders in China, prompting her to harness her inner strength and embrace her true potential.
From Marvel Studios: Black Widow. In Theaters May 1, 2020

MOVIE PLOT: In Marvel Studios’ action-packed spy thriller Black Widow, Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Set between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, the story will follow Natasha Romanoff as she reunites with her Russian family and also faces new threats in other parts of the world.
From Walt Disney Studios: Artemis Fowl. In Theaters May 29, 2020

MOVIE PLOT: Originally slated for August 9, 2019, the story of Artemis Fowl follows a 12-year-old genius and descendant of a long line of criminal masterminds. Artemis soon finds himself in a battle against a race of powerful underground fairies who might have something to do with his father’s disappearance. Ferdia Shaw stars as the title character, accompanied by Judi Dench, Josh Gad, and Nonso Anozie.
From Disney Pixar: Soul. In Theaters June 19, 2020

MOVIE PLOT: Soul follows Joe Gardner (Jamie Foxx), a middle school music teacher who dreams of performing jazz music onstage, and finally gets his chance – but an accident causes his soul to be separated from his body and transported to the “You Seminar”, a center in which souls develop passions before being transported to a newborn child. Gardner must work with other souls in training and find a way to return to Earth before it’s too late.
From Walt Disney Studios: Jungle Cruise. In Theaters June 24, 2020

MOVIE PLOT: Set during the early 20th century, Disney’s Jungle Cruise follows riverboat captain Frank (Johnson) who takes scientist Lily Houghton (Blunt) and her brother McGregor (Whitehall) on a mission into a jungle to find the Tree of Life, which is believed to have healing powers. Of course, it won’t be an easy journey, as they will have to fight against wild animals and a competing German expedition.
From Marvel Studios: Eternals. In Theaters November 6, 2020

MOVIE PLOT: The Eternals will explore the story of this immortal alien race created by the Celestials to protect humanity from their evil counterparts, the Deviants. Starring in The Eternals are Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kit Harington, Kumail Nanjiani, Salma Hayek, Gemma Chan, and many, many more.

Walt Disney Animation Studios: Raya and the Last Dragon. In Theaters November 25, 2020

MOVIE PLOT: Raya and the Last Dragon is set in a mysterious realm called Kumandra, where a warrior named Raya (Cassie Steele) searches for the last dragon in the world (of course!). Also starring is Awkwafina, voicing a water dragon called Sisu.

20th Century Studios (subsidiary of Walt Disney Studios): West Side Story. In Theaters December 18, 2020

MOVIE PLOT: Steven Spielberg’s new movie, West Side Story, is based on the Broadway musical of the same name by Arthur Laurents, Leonard Bernstein, and Stephen Sondheim (which, in turn, is inspired by William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet). It follows teenagers Tony (Ansel Elgort) and Maria (Rachel Zegler), who despite having affiliations with rival street gangs, fall in love in 1950s New York City. Also starring are David Alvarez, Corey Stoll, and Rita Moreno.
